My favorites from this past week:

• Local Kitchen's recipe for antipasto tops my canning list for this year.  I can't wait to make this stuff!
• A realistic approach to eating from scratch in a busy household..

Have a great weekend!  It will be another canning day for me.   This time, sauce and my last batch of bread and butter pickles are on the list.

My favorites from this past week:

• cheese, bacon and jalapenos!
• This recipe for homemade veggie bouillion sounds like a really good idea.
• I think I'm going to grow my cucumbers vertically next year.  It's this point in the year that I'm reminded that my plants will grow, and that they will probably grow much taller than I expected.  I need to get a better trellising system.

Garden Haul

This week's haul is all about cucumbers.   I harvested quite a few beans also, but we've been better at keeping up with them. The cucumbers have just exploded.  I've been picking a basket like this on a daily basis.  I made some of my favorite bread and butter pickles, and we've been having cucumber salad practically every day.  I think I'll make a few kinds of relish next week.  My husband got me this Pickled Pantry, and it has a couple of nice recipes.  I also picked our first jalapeno, and I dug a few new potatoes, and I pulled a few onions for dinner, but they didn't make the picture.

- Tomatoes from Tiffany at 20x20 - She gathered 8 pounds in one day!  I can't wait for that part of the year.  She has incredible drought in her area, but it looks like the veggies are still okay.

Natalie has some great produce coming from her garden also.  That's dinner for a week!

Joyful Lova shows that one can grow in practically any location.

She wrote - This is the 1st year I am growing potatoes and I wanted to do it the easiest way.

I put a bit of gravel at the bottom of a 35cm pot ( so that slugs cannot enter the pot's drainage hole), then put a bit of compost on which I lay 1 chitted potato that has only 1 or 2 slips, then I fill the pot with compost and put gravel on top. So there is never any need to top up the compost. This way I can harvest the content of 1 pot only whenever I want to cook some potatoes. There are only 2 of us here, so the harvest from one pot should be enough for a meal for 2.

This variety is Charlotte and the colander contains 3 pots' harvest. The foliage died so I had to harvest those 3 pots, hence some of the potatoes are still small.

• The above blog has made me want to purchase this book, although the idea of drafting a pattern for myself scares me a bit. 
• I just love this song (and the video is neat too), and this song.  I love songs I can belt out at the top of my lungs.

Today's my last day of school for the summer!  I'm so excited, I have many projects planned, and some time in the garden scheduled as soon as the heat goes away.  Also,  I can't wait to write blog posts when I'm awake!
