I finally decided to put together a sourdough starter. I've literally been thinking about this for years. It was one of those deceptively easy projects. A little flour, a little warm water... what can go wrong?
I whisked the two together vigorously. It will take a while to ferment, our kitchen isn't very warm, and I used white flour. Still, I'm really glad I took the first step. I'm using instructions from the River Cottage Bread Handbook, but if it doesn't work out, I'll probably try this recipe from wild yeast.
Have you ever made sourdough starter? Any suggestions?
